Plywood
Plywood is a wood panel made from several thin veneer layers bonded together with their grain running crosswise. This cross-grain construction is what makes plywood strong, stable, and resistant to warping compared with solid wood. Lentera Plywood produces versatile plywood to export-grade quality for both furniture and construction needs.
- Cross-layered construction — strong and stable
- Lightweight yet holds loads well
- Available in thicknesses from 3 mm to 18 mm
- Flat surface, easy to finish
Advantages of plywood over solid wood
Its cross-layered structure means plywood does not crack, shrink, or warp as easily as solid wood. It is relatively lightweight yet strong, making it suitable for a wide range of interior and structural applications. Its flat surface makes painting and laminating easy.
- More stable against changes in humidity
- Holds screws and nails firmly
- Minimal cracking and shrinkage
Adhesive types and durability
Plywood's strength also depends on the adhesive used. For dry areas, an interior adhesive is sufficient, while damp or exterior areas require a water-resistant (WBP) adhesive. Choosing the right adhesive ensures the plywood lasts in its intended environment.
Available sizes and thicknesses
We supply plywood in thicknesses ranging from 3 mm to 18 mm in industry-standard panel sizes. Specifications can be tailored to your project needs, whether for lightweight furniture or load-bearing construction.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between plywood, triplek, and multiplek?
They are all plywood. 'Triplek' refers to thin sheets (usually 3 plies), while 'multiplek' refers to thicker plywood. In principle the material is the same.
What plywood thickness should I use to build a cabinet?
Generally 12–18 mm for the body and frame of a cabinet, and 3–9 mm for the back panel. Adjust according to the load and size of the furniture.
Is plywood waterproof?
Ordinary plywood is not waterproof. For damp or wet areas, use marine plywood with a water-resistant (WBP) adhesive.
